AU Delegation Trip to Brussels and Berlin. Topic: Migration and Mobility between Africa and Europe.
The delegation trip aims to facilitate coordination between the two continents in order to jointly develop sustainable, long-term and proactive policy solutions for current and future flows of migration. Migration issues are of great significance to both continents and will most likely gain more prominence in the coming years. Hence, there is need for a continuous and partnership-based dialog between Europe and Africa. To deepen these dialog processes, a delegation of five AU representatives will visit both Brussels and Berlin and engage with European and German experts, policy-makers, civil society and diaspora organizations. The delegation trip should further the participants an opportunity to present African perspectives on root causes of migration as well as solution approaches. An open exchange is supposed to encourage the inclusion of African perspectives in the migration debate and foster the public engagement with African viewpoints in Germany and Europe. Accordingly, a public event on the theme “Migration and Mobility between Africa and Europe” will be held on September 28, 2016 at FES Berlin, Hiroshimastr. 17.
