Call for application-Migration dialogue platform based on “African Voices from the Ground”

The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) of Addis Ababa University in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) are announcing this call for applications for migration research that features and investigates “African Voices from the Ground”.

This research project is the first phase of a three-tier migration programme the two organizations have designed. The findings if the research feeds into the subsequent phases, i.e. dialogue platforms and development of actionable recommendations.

Research-based perspectives from African communities across the continent, that constitute source and transit routes for migration, are necessary for effective interventions. The research aims to gather data from such communities using systemic research methods. The research will be based on information gathered from citizens, civil society organizations, government officials and professionals working on migration issues.

The research data will then be collected from four out of the five focus countries, namely Ethiopia, South Africa, Senegal, Chad and Tunisia. The data will be analysed holistically and regionally with a policy focus leading to developing findings and actionable recommendations suitable for deliberations among policy makers in Migration Platforms to be held in Africa and in Europe. University based research groups, selected from among the applicants of this call, will undertake the study in the selected countries. Universities should be based in the country of proposed research location and will be paid 10,000 Euro for their work.
