EU-Africa Policy Dialog

The relationship between Africa and Europe is characterized by reciprocity: Challenges faced by one continent will eventually affect the other. Despite its challenges, the African-European relationship, since the adoption of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy (JAES) in 2007, has become ever more important. In this context, Africa and Europe are addressing issues like economic development, peace and security, democracy promotion, migration etc.

Given the symbiotic connection between Africa and Europe, the FES is aiming to strengthen strategic political dialog between the two partners in order to facilitate common political ground to addressing current challenges and issues of mutual concern. A special focus will be put on the inclusion of civil society organizations into the Africa- EU dialogue, taking into consideration the AU’s and EU’s people- centred approach.
