E-Model African Union

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung AU Cooperation office organized a virtual simulation of the Model Africa Union (M-AU) on the 12th & 13th of June 2021. The simulation brought together approximately 30 young participants from the four corners of the continent as they simulated Africa Union committees, playing the role of diplomats while they negotiated and crafted resolutions on arrays of topics. In line with the African Union theme of the year, Art, Culture & Heritage, this year Model Africa Union pinned on culture, women participation, and their role in ensuring peace and security in Africa.  The Model AU is a conference that offers the most accurate and innovative simulation of the African Union and its decision-making process. The simulation has provided a lifetime opportunity for young participants to simulate different organs of the Africa Union including the Special Technical Committee (STC), Peace and Security Council (PSC), and the General Assembly (GA).  Amidst this engaging, cutting edge simulation of the AU, delegates had the opportunity to discuss a diverse array of topics that are relevant to the Africa Union and gain a practical understanding of the decision-making process of the real African Union. In addition, young participants have acquired a technical know-how on argumentation, political communication and debating skills.
